Peterson electrifies vehicle fleet in Den Helder
Peterson’s Hub operations in Den Helder are now fully electric following the delivery of a new 14-ton forklift.
The Carer compact vehicle replaced the final diesel forklift at the storage facility. The Hub has been using a fleet of smaller electric forklifts since 2014 in a bid to reduce the carbon footprint of its activities.
This investment supports wider decarbonisation of operations from Den Helder with a quayside fleet which is either electric or powered by hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO100).
Maikel Kivits, Head of Operations Netherlands, said:
It’s great to have our Hub fleet now fully electric with this compact, yet powerful forklift. Energy logistics can be an energy intensive practice so anything we can do to decarbonise can make a real difference. This shows our leadership and commitment to sustainable practices for our clients in the offshore energy sector.”
The operations team in Den Helder also recently received a new HVO100 crane, modified with a raised cabin of 2.5m for a better deck visibility and a camera on the tip of the boom, which will load critical goods for offshore energy projects from the port onto vessels.
All equipment across Peterson Den Helder will be electric or HVO100 by the end of Q1 2026.
